Expanding “The Secret”

This short article is not a criticism of the message found within “The Secret” movie and book, but rather a supplement. The thought system presented in the movie and the book is true, as it teaches you that you are the creator of your life.

It’s focus is to help you to receive the things you always dreamed of, and there is nothing wrong with that, in fact it has helped a lot of people in training their minds. Yet it falls a little short on teaching you how to release the limitless power that is in you.

The problem  with the message is that at no point does anyone mention the universal law that giving and receiving are the same. This law cannot be ignored, because it is the law that governs creation. To supplement the message in “The Secret”, I would like to help you to incorporate the application of the Golden Rule along with those teachings.

In creating abundance for example, “The Secret” teaches you to focus your thoughts only on abundance and not on lack. It teaches you to imagine yourself having the abundance you desire. This is where the problem is. It teaches you to imagine YOURSELF as having the abundance you desire.

My message to you is that you are far more powerful when your thoughts focus on giving instead of “getting”. Image OTHERS AND YOURSELF as having the abundance you desire. Desire abundance as much for others as for yourself. As you give to others, you give to yourself. Therefore, give the abundance you want to receive. Focus your mind only on the things you want everyone to have, not just yourself. Allow your spirit to give of the abundance that is already yours. The universe will lend it’s support to you as you lend your support to the universe.

Do not forget, that the universe works for the benefit of all, not just for the benefit of you. As you learn to expand your mind to include others in your thoughts, prayers and meditations, your limits will fade away, and you will remember that you are a limitless creator.

As long as “I” remains the focus of your intent, you will remain limited and your manifestations will not make you happy, even when they work. The law of attraction will sometimes work for you, but will not bring you the happiness and release that you want. This is because your happiness is not found in you alone, but also in the happiness of all others.

The secret teaches to inspire the feeling of already having what you desire.  Here is the missing aspect …. the missing secret from “The Secret”.  The ONLY thing that can inspire the feeling of already having is the act of GIVING  it away.  There is no other way to produce a sincere recognition of what is already present.

Use the message in “The Secret”, focus your mind only on what you want instead of what you do not want. Do not forget, that what you truly want is happiness for all, and not just you. Giving is what will release you, and not the “things” you can create for yourself alone.
